A newsletter. How avant garde!
I am certainly not the first artist that has tried this.
I think social media can become this sort of necessary evil for creatives wanting to get their work out into the world. It’s like a child discovering some kind of cute, magical creature that can grant wishes and provide the child with extra endorphins, but you have to feed it your very soul… and at first it feels like a good trade off. That cute little monster is growing, you’re feeling better. Even great, maybe? Hopeful? But it keeps growing, and the bigger it gets, the more food it needs… and you're getting emptier and emptier and more tired…
I had to decide who was going to die: my inner artist or the monster.
I chose the monster.
Is that dramatic? Well, yeah. For sure. Social media isn’t an all consuming monster for everyone, although it certainly became that for me. But I have also missed the opportunity to share my art and have you engage with it… and my creativity has suffered as a result. Art that stays hidden certainly has its place, but I would venture to say that, a lot of times, a piece doesn’t become the fullness of itself until it has been experienced by people other than the artist.
So here I am—on one hand, asking you to observe, consume, engage, and critique the things I create; on the other, inviting you into a space that is, at worst, something pretty to look at and, at best, a deeper exploration of beauty and why we so desperately need it.

So, what does $10 a month get me?
I’m glad you asked. For your $10 monthly subscription you get…
One free downloadable print!
(like this one)
Every month, I will include a link to a new art print that you can download and print at your whim. Hang it in your house, gift it to a friend, print a thousand and wallpaper your boss’s office with it as a prank, decorate your airbnb—the world is your oyster.
A media link
In trying to fill up my “creative well” that I can constantly draw from, I run across some amazing music, videos, music videos, lectures, movie clips… etc. I will take my favorite of the month and include it here for you, as well.
A written piece
Poem, prose, short story, book recommendation… Anything to take us “further up and further in” on this journey.
An additional surprise
This category is my “catch-all”. I don’t want to limit what this could be, so each month there will be a fourth “gift”. That might be vague, but I don’t want to risk spoiling a surprise with examples. Just think of really cool things that you’d want and it will probably be one of those things. ;)
Why does this cost money?
I know. I literally just saw an article in the NYTimes about “subscription fatigue” and here I am trying to get people to sign up for another one. The truth of the matter is… Making art costs money. I want to have the freedom and space to create and the ugly truth is that I need funds. If you don’t like the thought of subscribing, you can think of it as supporting my creative endeavors—becoming a patron of my art. I write this with such uneasy humility and elated gratitude—knowing that having a support system to create is such a privilege.
BUT I will still post regularly—free for all subscribers—with original art for sale, artistic musings, and creative thoughts inspired by this beautiful world :)
